Hello lovies! Today I wanted to touch on feminism. There are so many aspects to this subject that should be talked about. After educating myself about feminism and looking at organizations that took upon talking about feminist topics, such as, the Teen Vogue February 2016 issue, Man Repeller, and StyleLikeU Youtube channel, I want to talk about women working in the fashion industry.

Witam moi mili! Dzisiaj chciałam dotknąć tematu feminizmu. Jest tyle aspektów dotyczących tego tematu. Po szukaniu informacji o feminiźmie i organizacji, które mówią o tym temacie jak lutowe wydanie Teen Vogue, Man Repeller, kanał youtubowy StyleLikeU, chciałam napisać o kobietach pracujących w modzie.

This aspect has not been covered frequently; I realized there this an implied impression that women, or in general people, who work in the arts industry - more specifically fashion - are considered as "less ambitious". When people ask me where do I where and what do I want to major in, I answer, for example, "business in NYU", to make it seem that my ambition is highly ranked instead of just fashion. I do not plan on applying to FIT or Parsons, etc. because having a degree in fashion seems silly to others - even sometimes to me. I am constantly explaining myself that my blog is not something I plan on doing as a job, even though people like Chiara Ferragni, Kristina Bazan, Sonya Esman, just to name a few, have made empires from blogging.

Ten aspekt feminizmu nie jest zbyt często omawiany. Zauważyłam, że jest ukryte wrażenie, że kobiety albo ogólnie ludzie, którzy pracują w branży artystycznej - szczególnie w modzie - są brani pod uwagę jako "mniej ambitni". Kiedy któs mi się pyta, gdzie i co chciałabym studiować, odpowiadam, na przykład "biznes w NYU". Chcę, aby ludzie myśleli, że mój kierunek jest bardziej ambitny niż tylko moda. Nie planuję aplikować do FIT albo Parsons, itp. bo mieć dyplom naukowy w modzie wydaje się ludziom śmieszne- nawet czasem dla mnie wydaje się to niepoważne. Ciągle muszę się tłumaczyć, że nie planuje pracować jako blogerka i bloguję z przyjemności, chociaż osoby jak Julia Kuczyńska z Maffashion albo Jessica Mercedes z Jemerced zrobiły imperium z blogowania. 

Theoretically there is nothing to be ashamed about for being a fashion blogger; it is just a platform to express someone's interest of fashion. Yet, many young girls who blog or want to work in fashion are discriminated for what they wear, for what they say, and for what they look like. There are common heard insults, such as, "Do you really want to work in fashion?", " You do not look like someone who should work in fashion", "There are no real jobs in fashion". These comments hurt; and a lot of the times they come from friends and family. Though parents want the best for their children, they often forget what their child want for his/her-self. For a moment I was considering to find a different career path, despite my life-long interest in fashion. After researching online, I found out that there are financially-stable jobs in fashion. Just as with anything, one has to look. Sites, such as, businessoffashion.com and documeratires, for example, Alexa Chung's Future of Fashion document for British Vogue's Youtube provide evidence that finding a job in fashion is just as possible (and hardworking) as any other profession.

Teoretycznie nie ma nic złego, że jest się modową blogerką - to jest platforma do okazania swoich zainteresowań związane z modą. Pomimo tego, wiele młodych dziewczyn, które blogują bądź chcą pracować w branży modowej są dyskryminowane za to jak się ubierają, co mowią i jak wyglądają. Często można usłyszeć komentarze typu: "Czy naprawdę chcesz pracować w modzie?", "Nie wyglądasz jak któs, kto był pracował w branży modowej", "Nie ma prawdziwej pracy w modzie". Te słowa ranią i często są mówione przez znajomych i rodzinę. Rodzice chcą jak najlepiej dla dziecka, ale trzeba brać pod uwagę czego człowiek chce dla siebie w życiu. Przez moment, zastanawiałam się czy wybrać inną drogę zawodową, pomino mojego długiego zainteresowania modą. Po poszukiwaniach w internecie, znalazłam, informacje, które pokazują, że można mieć stabilną pracę w branży modowej. Tak, jak ze wszystkim, trzeba szukać. Stronę internetowy jak businessoffashion.com bądź filmy dokumentalne, na przykład, Alexa Chung's Future of Fashion dokument dla brytyjskiego Vogue'a dostarczają informacje, że prace w branży modowej są tak samo możliwe do znajdywania (i są tak samo wymagające) jak w każdym innym fachu.

Women hear similar comments, expressed above, with most professions - replace the word "fashion" with another career, for example, acting, journalism, medicine, finance. Though this is a more broader problem how women are treated in the workplace, women are especially devalued for choosing the "easier" career path. Many faces associated with the fashion industry have proven that they are capable of more than what they are portrayed in the fashion industry. Karlie Kloss attends colleges, majoring in coding, Miuccia Prada has a degree in political science, even the so-called frivolous Andre Leon Talley has a Master's in French Literature from Brown University. These are just a handful of examples that show, fashion is not for "less ambitious".

Kobiety słyszą podobne komentarze, jak użyte wyżej, z większością zawodów - wymień słowo "moda" z inną profesją, na przykład, aktorstwo, dziennikarstwo, medycyna, finanse. Chociaż jest większy problem jak kobiety są traktowane w pracach, kobiety są szczególnie zdewaluowane za wybranie "łatwiejszą" drogi zawodowej. Wiele twarzy związane z modą dowiadują, że są w stanie zrobić coś więcej niż co są uważani w branży modowej. Modelka Karlie Kloss studiuje kodowanie komputerowe, Miuccia Prada ma magister w naukach politycznych, nawet słynna modelka Cindy Crawford, przed karierą, studiowała inżynerię chemiczną. To jest tylko kilka przykładów, które dowodzą, że moda nie jest dla "mniej ambitnych".

Fashion is for those who are brave enough to actually do what they want. Think about it. Even after receiving "advice" about revising the decision to find a job in the fashion industry, people still pursue it. Fashion has been with man-kind for centuries, defining culture, making a statement. And fashion was the first industry that women were exposed to and revolutionized. Yes, fashion is not as rigorous as rocket science but it is a pleasant aspect of life - why should anyone belittle it?

Moda jest dla tych, którzy są odważni na tyle, którzy chcą robić w życiu to, czego pragną. Pomyśl o tym. Nawet po otrzymaniu "rad" aby zmienić decyzję ścieszki kariery w branży modowej, ludzie dalej idą tą drogą. Moda zawsze była związana z cywylizacją od wieków, definiując kulturę. Moda była pierwszą branżą, w której  kobiety były anagożowane. Tak, to prawda, że moda nie jest regorystyczna jak nauka związane z rakietami, ale to przyjemny aspekt w życiu - dlaczego któs chciałby to zbagatelizować?
